This 2 hour seminar is designed for photographers looking to gain an appreciation of photography as an artistic medium and understand the technical aspects of their camera. | Photography 101 Course Outline This is a five week class which will help you gain a better understanding of your camera, camera settings, photo composition, lighting, aperture setting, and shutter speed. Photographs will be taken both in and out of the classroom, with weekly photo assignments. Each class will consist of time devoted to one aspect of photography, and one aspect of technology related to photography. Of course, there will be time during each class to take pictures! You can learn the technical, artistic, and practical uses of your camera. Week 3 Understanding shutter speeds and apertures (f-stops). THE most important issue. Introduction to printing your images. Advantages up printing at home and using a commercial lab. Week 4 Exposure methods Understanding histograms. Week 5 Camera lenses, types and applications. Introduction to photo editing (AKA post production). Digital Darkroom- Using your computer to edit your images Course Outline. Now that you know how to take better pictures, what are you going to do with them? This is a 4 week class that will help you gain a better understanding of using your computer to edit your photographs. It will be helpful if participants bring a laptop computer, but it is not mandatory. There are dozens of software programs available. The program used for this class is Adobe Elements 5. Photography Lighting (This class is taught in a commercial studio) Course Outline. So, you want to see how the pros do it? This class is designed to enhance the participants understanding of the use of flashes, lighting concepts, learn to shoot better photography in a controlled light situations, and learn alternative lighting methods. You won't believe what a difference it will make in your photographs! Each class will consist of time devoted understanding a lighting concept and live demonstrations This is a 4 week class that will help you gain a better understanding of controlling and using artificial light. Individual Photography and Camera Instruction So you just got a new camera? You need a refresher course? Or, you have had your camera for a while and you've always wondered what it would be like to take it off "automatic". Get one on one instruction with your camera equipment (or we can use mine) and start taking better shots! We will set up a time and place to meet to first review your equipment and how to use it, and then have a short photo shoot in the studio or on location. Bring your camera, your manual, and all of your questions.* If you are already an experienced shooter and need a little "kick" we can do that too. *You will get more from this session if you are somewhat familiar with your camera. Individual Photoshop or Photoshop Elements Instruction Whether you are a bigginer or intermediate photo editor there are always new things to be learned. Individual instruction will be tailored to your needs. You can learn everything from fixing red eye to cropping and changing pictures to black and white (the way the pros do it). Learn about the use of layers, masking, filters, or good photo-retouching skills. If you are going to be shooting digital pictures, you probably need to have some digital editing skills.
