Basic editing like cropping and color correction are fairly easy to master with some practice. Other techniques like taking items out of a photo or actually creating content like this determination poster, are also possible but won’t be a part of this intro class.

 

Ready to move beyond the cheesy filters and effects on your phone of camera to enhance your photos?Learning to edit pictures can help perfect an already good photo to a great one. One of the most powerful and popular programs is photoshop and THAT'S what we will be using for this class.

We will cover editing basics in this 4-night class, using interactive online technology.

Having fun with images is a great way to use this powerful software.


Prerequisites

Please make sure you meet each of these before signing up.

  • This is a Photoshop class for photographers. While Photoshop is a great tool for graphic artists and others, this class is specifically for photography.

  • You need to have a computer and be tech savvy for this class, which includes having a grasp of the operation of your computer. Being able to navigate, download files, and open and store files and applications are required to participate. We will not be taking limited class time to enhance those skills.

  • You must have access to Photoshop and be familiar with opening and saving images with it.

  • You must have a strong internet connection, a working webcam and microphone, and the knowledge and experience to use them. For this class you will need a Google account as we will be using Google Meet to interact. Please honor everyone else’s time by testing all connections prior to class.

  • You should be a relatively experienced photographer knowing the difference between RAW files and jpegs, and have a general understanding of camera settings and principles.

If there is any possibility that you will not be able to attend, please do not sign up. You will take a space that someone else might have used. Class size is limited!

  • Learning the Photoshop interface and setting up your workspace

  • Learning how to use Adobe Bridge, a digital asset manager

  • Learning the toolbar

  • Cropping

  • Red Eye Removal and Intro to Raw Editor

Class 2

  • Using layers

  • Making selections

  • Compositing images

Class 3

  • Adjustment layers

  • Refining portraits

Class 4

  • Converting to Black and White

  • Adding/using text

  • Applying Filters
