Want to See National Acts Play For Free? Go to Replay Guitar Exchange
The exterior of the Replay Guitar Exchange is very unassuming. It looks kind of dumpy from the outside, much like some of it's neighbors in Britton Plaza in South Tampa. But step inside and it's breathtaking, especially if you are a guitarist. Walls and walls of the stringed instruments fill the walls of the front room with acoustic and bass guitar rooms in the back. Add the fact that they sponsor free guitar clinics bringing in national acts to play for free, and you've got my attention.
An audience of about 50 people showed up for the Taylor demonstration, leaving standing room only. It was worth it!
Recently Replay hosted a free Taylor Guitar Roadshow where around fifty people showed up to listen to Kenny Echizen, a session/touring guitarist, educator, and clinician based in Los Angeles. And, I say emphatically, dude can play! What an entertaining night of music, a little comedy, and education about different tone woods, body shapes, bracing, and differences in string attack. Even non-guitarists enjoyed the show just because he was so dang good. I have been to several other shows and they have yielded equally talented entertainment.
Kenny Echizen is a a session and touring guitarist hailing from LA-. As a clinician he’s been involved with Taylor Guitars as a Product Specialist traveling all over North America since 2013. Dude can play!
This night was for Taylor Guitars but they offer other workshops from other makers like Martin, Gibson. Good swag as well is also part of the give-aways at the demos. Here's a schedule of the upcoming shows.
Demonstrations are held in the acoustically tight store space drowning in a sea of guitars, perfect if you are a guitar player. The audience is invited to try out the instruments after the demo
Replay Guitar exchange is just so unassuming- Never would anyone expect to see the selection of instruments inside judging from the exterior.
