PHOTOGRAPHY 101Camera Class

Are you Ready to master your camera settings? Do you want to take better family photos, start a photography side HUSTLE, or just get your camera off of automatic? This class is for you! Photo 101 is a comprehensive three-week course designed to help you understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, camera settings, and photo composition. The buttons and dials look intimidating on many cameras. This class is designed to break them down  in a logical sequence to help your get your brain around how they all work. You will even be able to  understand the “professional” mode on your phone camera to get better phone photos!

The class is now offered with a combination of classroom learning and a live learning photo safari. weekly photography assignments will help participants gain a better working knowledge of how to make better pictures and control their cameras. Each class will consist of time devoted to different aspects of camera operation, with time for you to ask specific questions about your camera. You will gain a better understanding of when to choose certain settings and gain confidence in your ABILITIES. Our photo safari is a 2 hour session of practicing, QUESTIONS and challenges.

Whether you are trying to take better family photos or want to take your photography to the next level, you've got to be able to control your camera. This is the class for you!

This class was Established in 2006 and is the original Photo 101 class in Tampa. It has helped thousands of people understand how to be a better photographer. Classes meet virtually one day per week for four weeks with an additional meeting on a saturday morning mid course. They are taught BY Chip Weiner, an award winning photojournalist and food photographer. Photo 101 is the longest running photography workshop in tampa!

• For the comfort and safety of everyone, participants must also agree to wear protective face coverings for the live portion of this class if they are unvaccinated.

• Classes meet in downtown tampa

• Class is subject to change or cancellation for lack of minimum registrations.

• Please be sure you can attend all dates listed as there are no make-up sessions.

The next class is scheduled for 3 weeks on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., January 4 and jAnuary 11, 2022 , with our walking photo safari training session on Saturday January 15, 2022, from 9:00AM. to 11:00 AM IN downtown Tampa

Cost for 3 week class is $119.00

While many people have enjoyed this class with a point and shoot camera, an SLR, DSLR, or mirrorless camera will better complement the lessons. Any camera that allows for the control of shutter speed and aperture works best.

Course Content

Class 1. The first class is an introduction to the buttons and dials on your camera and how they work. They are really not as intimidating as they look! We will also discuss some "should haves" for your camera bag, and your first photo assignment.

Class 2. This is THE most important class. Learning and understanding exposure is the key to better and creative photography. Take your camera off “auto” by learning shutter speeds, apertures (f-stops), and ISO. We will Also discuss the meaning and use of depth of field.

Class 3. Bring your camera, bring your lens, and bring your questions! We will practice some of the techniques and settings discussed in the first two sessions as well as participate in a couple of photo challenges to sharpen your skills and have some fun.
